SAMU 061, Son Espases University Hospital and the Directorate-General for Emergencies tested their coordination in response to the arrival of a simulated case of haemorrhagic fever aboard a vessel reaching the archipelago. Following the exercise, the drill confirmed the Balearic Islands as one of Spain’s autonomous healthcare systems prepared to deal with an incident of this nature.
Organised by the Spanish Navy and coordinated by the Directorate-General for External Health of the Ministry of Health, the Government of the Balearic Islands took part in the MARSEC 2026 exercise at the Port of Palma. The objective was to assess the healthcare system’s response capacity and strengthen coordination between the organisations involved in public health emergencies at maritime points of entry.
